Mission Statement

We believe that middle level education should provide an environment where students can develop into healthy, productive, happy, contributing members of our society.

Principal - Albert Rousse

Principal of Castleton Village School, holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a Master's Degree in Educational Administration from Castleton State College. Education is Mr. Rousse's second profession; he retired from the Vermont State Police Force in 1992. He taught in Fair Haven for five years and served as Principal of the North Hero Elementary School for two years. He's delighted to be "home in Castleton" where the focus of the schools is excellence in education. When Mr. Rousse is away from school he loves all kinds of outdoor activities.

Dream a Little Dream...

...with Castleton Village School’s seventh and eighth graders, faculty, staff, and administration as they begin their year-long theme of “Dreams and Goals.” Many dreams can come true if goals are set and work is done to make them happen, so many activities involving problem-solving and decision-making will be done throughout the year and through various classes and TA’s. At this age, bullying, peer pressure, and stereotyping are obstacles that often get in the way of good, thoughtful choices, so a good deal of time will be spent on these issues through classes and TA’s. We would like to invite parents, families, and the community to become involved in our “Mile of Pennies.” For the next several months, we will be collecting pennies. At the end of each week, TA’s will measure and count their “takes” for those five days, and the results will be posted in the school. It is our goal to reach a mile and donate that money to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, making someone else’s dream come true. (If you or anyone you know wish to donate your pennies to this worthy cause, please drop them off at our office.) We are fortunate to be working in partnership with Castleton State College during this project and hope to have a visual representation for the public to view at our Open House on Monday, September 17. All are welcome.
