Welcome to the Principal’s page

Well March came in like a lamb, hopefully it will also go out the same way!  This past winter may not have been very snowy, but none the less we are ready for spring! Here at CVS we are very busy gearing up for the 8th grade trip to Washington DC leaving on March 24th at 5:30 am.  What an exciting opportunity for our students to see the nation’s capital. We have made arrangements for the groups to stay at the National 4-H Center in Washington DC. They will be visiting the Capitol Building, various Smithsonian museums, Arlington Cemetery, Lincoln Memorial, National Zoo, Viet Nam War Memorial, the World War II Memorial and other areas of interest.  They will even have time for a dinner theater experience to see Hairspray.  There is a very busy schedule for everyone.   I think being able to visit the hub of our government is an honor. Thank you to the parents and communities for making this event happen.  Certainly a trip all will remember. I look forward to seeing the pictures.

Our seventh graders are busy working on different projects in their classes. Math students are learning about different careers and the uses of math in these careers. Our eighth graders have completed their posters on famous mathematicians and they are hanging on the wall in the hallway.  Each student did a great job!

There will be a mandatory sports meeting on March 17 for all students who are interested in participating in softball, golf or baseball.  Please attend with your student to meet the coaches and complete all required paperwork.

Students have been busy completing their community service requirements for the school year.  Remember that each student needs 10 hours of service by the end of the school year.  There are suggestions on a bulletin board for students to check out.

Again, if there are any questions or concerns about our programs, please do not hesitate to contact us.  Have a great month of March…..Mrs. Linda Peltier

Keep your middle schooler motivated with organization

Does a cluttered desk stress you out at work? Well, your preteen may feel the same about a cluttered backpack or bedroom at home. If he can’t find his assignments, textbooks, etc., he may feel overwhelmed or unprepared.

To help your preteen stay motivated to do well in school, help him stay organized. Here’s how:

  • Have him organize his backpack. He should throw away any trash, organize his papers and stock it with pencils and erasers.
  • Maintain a calendar. Post a calendar on the fridge and have your preteen use it to keep track of upcoming assignments.
  • Help him break down large assignments. If your preteen needs to complete a huge project, have him divide it into smaller tasks (such as by starting a research paper with an outline).
